Who’s Eligible

Applicants who intend to study in New Zealand for a minimum of three months or more who are able to meet the entangled standard requirements imposed by the government of New Zealand.

Major Requirements

  • Proficiency of English language – Individual programs is having different levels of required English language proficiency for students who are not Native English speakers. EViZ will provide required guidance for students to achieve higher band scores in IELTS.
  • Educational history including certified paper qualifications and/or proof of previous work experience – EViZ will provide comprehensive details in completion of documentation.
  • Adequate funds which covers Tuition Fees and Living Expenses for the entire study period – EViZ will make the applicant understand the requirements a self-sponsor and/or a third party sponsor
  • Meet the Health requirements according to New Zealand Immigration Instructions. EViZ will arrange necessary appointments with the licensed medical authority.
  • A letter of Offer and COE from an selected Education Provider. 
  • University/college confirmation related to the payment made for 1 st semester. EViZ will assist you to remit required funds throughout the entire study period
  • A copy of the identity pages in your passport.  
  • Be confident to face for a Student Visa interview, if required. EViz will be guiding you through and prepare the students

Requirements to obtain an appropriate Study Visa in NZ

An appropriate Student Visa is to be obtained from the NZ Embassy in order for you to follow any study course which exceeds three moths duration. There are different types of Visa categories which would suit the individual requirement of the selected course/s. Student must secure a seat in the selected University before proceeding with the Visa obtaining process. The general duration of a NZ Student Visa will be maximum of 4 years and it is compulsory to provide documented proof for following:

A brief description about documentation which should be in hand prior applying for NZ Student Visa

 1. A valid passport which must be valid for at least three months after your period ofstay in NZ.

2. A letter of acceptance from an accredited NZ education provider which states the course duration, total tuition fee. The course must be approved by the NZ Qualifications Authority

3.The Letter of Offer and the Confirmation of Enrolment from the university

4. Academic preparation documents such as transcripts, diplomas, degrees or certificates

5. Payment confirmation for the 1st semester

6. Evidence that you have or your sponsor will guarantee to provide sufficient funds to cover your Tuition Fee.

7. Relevant Bank statements/ Proof and source of funds

8. Financial undertaking by a sponsor to cover accommodation and living or both costs.

9. Evidence that you will leave NZ after the completion of your desired course.

10. A police certificate if you are aged 17 years or over and plan to study for more than 24 months.

11. Medical examination

 

Upon providing related documentation evidence the College/University will provide the student a ‘Letter of Offer) to ensure the student is eligible and accepted to the institution. Student will have to make relevant fee and accommodation fee (if required) upfront enabling the Institute to provide the student with a ‘Confirmation of Enrolment’ to the specific semester. The applicant has to obtain a medical examination from the authorised Medical Centre which is accepted by the NZ immigration. The duration of granting a student visa could reach up to 90 days from the day of submitting complete visa application. Therefore students should apply the visas four months prior to date of the course starts leaving time to settle down in NZ and start up with your study courses with a relaxed mind-set.

Essential requirements for Students with ‘NO’ Employment history

1. A valid passport and related travel documents

   a.Expiry date of the Passport shoulf be valid for anothet three months the dat of completion of the study programme.
   b. Travel history should be appearing in the passport
   c.details of any lost/missing passport/s in the past should be available

Educatinal Qualifications

1.You are eligible to apply for a NZ university just after Ordinary Level (G.C.E. O/L) or Advanced Level (G.C.E. A/L) and also after completing a Diploma/Degree/Masters in the relevant interested field

– The relevant educational certificates has to be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
– Documentation proof for any ongoing/ incomplete educational qualification has to be obtained from respective institutions

English Lauguage courses

IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – Academic module is a mandatory exam a candidate should take part in, to obtain admission at a NZ Educational Institution. It comprises of four modules which are listening, reading, writing, and speaking. It is valid only for 2 years.

TOEFL

There are two types of tests: Internet- based TOEFL and Paper-based TOEFL. It is a computer-initiated English proficiency test where the student must score around 80-90 on the English as a Foreign Language Test, and this test is valid for two years.

SAT

This not a mandatory test for NZ universities, although certain universities expect the students to have a valid SAT test result. This test evaluates students’ math, reading, writing, and grammar capability.

GRE

Although it is not a requirement by all the universities in New Zealand, certain master’s programs accept GRE. It can significantly improve your chances of pursuing a specialised master’s or doctoral-level program.”

Financial Requirements

Applicants should provide document evidence in order to prove that they have pre-arranged required financial assistance for them to engage with their studies in NZ. The requirement can be categorized into two major portions namely College/University fee and living expenses. However, the full course fee has to be readily available in form of cash whereas the cost of living only for one year will be the minimum eligibility.

Below table indicates an average cost for respective study programmes.

Credit card balances or Limits will not be accepted. A bank or any other financial institution issued balance confirmations without supporting evidence/history is not acceptable.

Accepted documents :

›    Currant or savings bank statements for the past 3 appearing all transactions and/or source. Been able to provide proof for any recent large deposits if that amount is included to support the financial requirements of the financial requirements of the student visa. You must provide genuine evidence to prove that the transfer of money has been routed through a legalize channel or that you have sold an immovable or movable assets.

›    Fixed deposit Certificates where the date of opening the deposit is more than 6 months prior.

›    A confirmation from a local or overseas NZ accepted Financial Institution with relates to the student loan facility granted to the applicant.

›    If employed, a standard employment confirmation letter stating your existing position, duration of employment, existing salary and the granted period of study leave if the employer agrees to offer re-employment
after completion of studies.

›    EPF, ETF and tax returns related documents

›    Evidence of all movable and immovable assets you own individually or jointly including any additional income.

Note: All documents which are producing to support the Visa Application should be able to verify by the Visa Officer during the assessment processed and also additional documents are tend to be requested by visa officer.

Required funds and other assets which produce to support the visa application has to be under the student’s name and/or under the name of financial sponsor. Only an immediate family member or immediate relations (within the first cousin zone) are eligible to hold the financial sponsorship of a visa applicant. If a student loan is granted and/or the sponsor has obtained a loan to assist the student the repayment capacity of the debt is to be proved to the visa officer. Provident fund balances would also be considered providing documentary evidence from relevant authorities.

Medical certificate from Migration Health Assessment Centre

1. There are approved panel physicians ; doctors and radiologists who are approved to conduct medical examinations and chest X-Rays for visa applicants.

2. In Sri Lanka those can be obtained from Asiri Surgical Hospital and IOM MHAC Colombo

Letter of Offer and COE to prove the acceptance to the respective NZ University or Institution

Expiry date of the Pass Port should be in accordance with the selected course duration
– Travel history should be appearing in the pass port
– Details of any lost/missing passport/s in the past

Completion of the Student Visa Application

The appropriate duly filled application has to be produced to the Visa Officer along with all relevant documentation and the visa fee has to be made at this stage

Obtaining the Student Visa

Receiving the student visa and work on the related matters for the student to be present at the University without any delay.

Essential requirements for students with Educational Qualifications Plus Employment History

› Employment contract or letter from your employer that includes your job responsibilities
› Salary slips
› Salary deposits shown on bank statements
› EPF /Income tax returns
› Pension or Provident Fund payments

Confirmation of leave if study leave is offered by the employer
